Economic figures for 2022 confirm growth of 3.7% in bottle sales and 12% in turnover

Sant Sadurní d’Anoia / Barcelona, 6 March 2023.- Five years after its launch on 10 April 2018 in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, CORPINNAT has established itself as a prestigious international benchmark brand for great Penedès sparkling wines. This is borne out by the figures in the Economic and Social Report for 2022: 5.7% more bottles sold (2.43 million) and 12% higher turnover (25.89 million euros).

Another relevant figure is the number of external winegrowers supplying grapes to some CORPINNAT wineries, which grew by 75% in 2022, from 77 registered in 2021 to 126 last year. This growth is the result of the significant drop in production the vineyards are suffering due to the persistent drought. CORPINNAT regulations allow the wineries covered by the brand to buy grapes from third-party winegrowers at a guaranteed minimum price, which last year was €0.75/kg. Since some wineries far exceeded this amount, the resulting average price for all grapes bought from winegrowers was €0.89/kg.

As for ageing, the share of bottles sold with more than 30 months' ageing rose to 84%, and 22% reached the market with ageing of 60 months or more. This is one of the main features that set corpinnats apart from other sparkling wines and that have placed the Penedès brand at the top of the pyramid of the world's finest sparkling wines. Wine tourism visits to the eleven wineries also grew significantly last year (63%), reaching figures similar to those before the pandemic (34,528 visits). Finally, exports in 2022 held steady at 19.4% of bottles, although the list of destinations grew by seven new countries: Honduras, the United Arab Emirates, Serbia, Indonesia, Malta, Greece and Cyprus.

Ton Mata and Xavier Nadal, president and vice-president respectively of the CORPINNAT-AVEC Association of Winegrowers and Producers, presented the 2022 Economic and Social Report this Monday at an event held at the Wine Tools Center Euroselecció Barcelona. The leaders of CORPINNAT expressed their satisfaction with the brand's first five successful years and stressed that if CORPINNAT has today earned a place and respect around the world, it is thanks to the commitment and effort of each and every one of its member wineries. In just five years, they noted, "we have managed to bring together in a single word, CORPINNAT, all the values of quality and rigour that set us apart, a genuine and inimitable word that has today become the name of our wine".
