Wine journalist Miquel Hudin has tasted and scored a selection of sparkling wines made by the nine current producers that make up the European Union collective brand CORPINNAT.
Hudin, who has been following and covering all the news about CORPINNAT since the brand’s new producers left the DO Cava in early 2019, has published this latest tasting report on his website www.hudin.com.

In the fully blind tasting, Hudin awarded 90 points or more to 80% of the CORPINNAT sparkling wines tasted and states that the group of producers “has a more uniform profile and identity than can be found in any other sector of Spanish sparkling wine”.

Hudin also highlighted that CORPINNAT’s focus on local varieties such as Xarel·lo and Parellada (the primary grapes in all the highest-rated wines) has been crucial in developing a consistent, high-quality profile for the Penedès region and, although he noted stylistic differences between the producers, he believes that a comprehensive high-quality sparkling wine option for consumers has developed very quickly.
