This 2018 harvest, the first for CORPINNAT as a collective brand registered in the European Union, is proving noticeably different from those of recent years as a result of the heavy rainfall, especially during the first half of the year. The abundant rain has replenished soil water reserves, which were at a minimum due to the drought accumulated during 2016 and 2017, but it has encouraged the appearance of downy mildew in varieties such as Macabeu, although the CORPINNAT wineries have closely monitored the development of this fungus in the vineyard to minimise its effects and state that it will have no impact on the quality of the 100% organic grapes.
The winemakers of the six wineries that currently belong to CORPINNAT agree that this year’s harvest is in good overall health and is especially well suited to making great sparkling wines with medium and long ageing, the essence of CORPINNAT.
