The Huguet-Can Feixes winery has joined as a new full member of the CORPINNAT Association of Winegrowers and Producers (AVEC), which promotes the EU collective brand that, under this name, seeks to distinguish great sparkling wines born in the heart of the Penedès through demanding production processes.

Huguet’s admission to CORPINNAT has been confirmed after the winery passed both the initial audit and the harvest audit required by the brand. Huguet-Can Feixes thus becomes the seventh member of CORPINNAT, alongside the brand’s founding wineries: Gramona, Llopart, Nadal, Recaredo, Sabaté i Coca and Torelló.

Huguet-Can Feixes is a family winery located in the municipality of Cabrera d’Anoia, in the northernmost part of the Penedès, which practises 100% organic farming and carries out vinification at its own winery, as required, among other conditions, by CORPINNAT’s rules of use. It currently has two gran reserva cavas on the market and also makes still wines under the DO Penedès.

This is the group’s seventh winery and the first to join the CORPINNAT project since it was officially launched on 10 April in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. Since then, several wineries have expressed interest in joining the brand and some have already begun the process of passing the audits that will allow them to join, as Huguet-Can Feixes has done.

CORPINNAT is a collective brand registered in the European Union at the end of last year and open to all sparkling wine producers located within the territorial boundaries established by the brand. The CORPINNAT territory covers a geographical area of 46 municipalities —all those in the Alt Penedès, and some in the Baix Penedès, Alt Camp, Anoia and Baix Llobregat— where, for geographical, geological, climatic and social reasons, native varieties have always been grown to make sparkling wines.

Likewise, all wineries aspiring to join CORPINNAT must comply with or adapt to the brand’s rules of use, which establish, among other requirements, hand harvesting, certified organic grapes, the use of historical varieties —with special emphasis on native ones—, full vinification on the estate, ageing of more than 18 months, a guaranteed minimum price for the winegrower with a gradual increase, and a commitment to rigour and self-discipline.
