Ton Mata and Xavier Nadal, president and vice-president of CORPINNAT, today presented the 2021 Economic and Social Report

Four years after its creation, CORPINNAT is consolidating its position as a benchmark brand for long-aged sparkling wines around the world. This is confirmed by the figures in the 2021 economic report: 83% of the bottles sold last year had been aged for more than 30 months in the cellar and 28% exceeded 60 months, well above the average for sparkling wines produced across Spain as a whole. This figure underpins the collective brand's commitment to the highest quality standards, which, in addition to long ageing, include: organic grapes, vinification on the estate, hand harvesting, a focus on historical varieties, and long-term contracts with a guaranteed minimum price.

After a difficult year due to the pandemic, as 2020 was, last year was generally a very good one for the CORPINNAT wineries. Together they sold 2.3 million bottles, 35% more than in 2020, and had a turnover of 23.1 million euros, 37.5% more than the previous year. These figures represent growth of 5% and 12% respectively compared with 2019. The estimated average retail price of a bottle of CORPINNAT stood at €17.35, 2% more than in 2020. The number of employees also grew, from 223 in 2020 to 252 in 2021.

As for activity directly related to vine growing, all the figures are also positive, with one standing out: the area farmed by independent winegrowers rose from 192 hectares recorded in 2020 to 347.5 in 2021, an increase of 80.98%. All these independent winegrowers have long-term contracts with the CORPINNAT wineries and a guaranteed minimum price which, this 2022, as laid down in the collective brand's Rules of Use, will be €0.70/kg + agricultural CPI for the entire company.

The only negative figure for 2021 concerns wine tourism visits and experiences, which fell by nearly 40% compared with 2019 (from 34,827 to 21,144) due to the pandemic restrictions that forced the suspension of practically all activities during 2020. As for export volume, which goes to 55 countries, it remains practically stable at 19.7% of total production.

Ton Mata and Xavier Nadal, president and vice-president respectively of the Associació de Viticultors i Elaboradors CORPINNAT-AVEC, presented the 2021 Economic and Social Report this Monday at an event held at the Ateneu Barcelonès. The brand's top representatives highlighted the effort and commitment of all the wineries to consolidate CORPINNAT as a benchmark of quality around the world and stressed that the positive results for 2021 “show that we are on the right track”. Mata and Nadal maintain that “CORPINNAT aims to be an incentive, a hope and a paradigm so that we keep believing that here, in the Penedès, great sparkling wines are made that enjoy growing recognition around the world”.
