Corpinnat begins the earliest harvest in its history
Historically, it got under way in the first half of September, but in recent years, as a direct consequence of rising temperatures, the harvest has been brought forward. This year, the start of the 2026 harvest marks a historic milestone: almost ten Corpinnat wineries began picking in July. The remaining wineries will start harvesting over the coming days, and almost all of them are expected to be harvesting by next week.
The winter rains allowed the vines to replenish their water reserves after three years of extreme drought. Even so, in recent months we have once again suffered from a lack of rain which, together with rising temperatures, has accelerated the ripening of the grapes. Grape quality will be optimal, but the scarcity of rain will lead to lower volumes than initially forecast.
The climate crisis and rising temperatures are accelerating grape ripening.
The commitment to the land is also reflected in the prices paid for grapes to winegrowers in the heart of the Penedès. That is why, since Corpinnat was created in 2018, guaranteed minimum prices have risen steadily, increasing by more than fifty per cent.
For this season, the minimum price has been set at €0.943 per kilo of organic, hand-harvested grapes. For Corpinnat, guaranteeing a fair grape price means looking after the winegrowers who tend the vineyards and our landscape, dignifying their efforts and ensuring generational renewal.
The Corpinnat philosophy places the focus on the quality of corpinnats. With this aim, the wineries have proposed lowering the maximum press yield, which this year will be 64.4 per cent. It is a new step intended to continue over time and forms part of the study and analysis the Corpinnat wineries carry out to keep driving change in the sector.
