The winery Júlia Bernet is now a new member of CORPINNAT after passing the two mandatory initial audits required to join this EU collective brand, whose aim is to enhance the prestige of the great sparkling wines made in the heart of the Penedès. Júlia Bernet thus becomes the eighth winery in the brand, joining Gramona, Llopart, Nadal, Recaredo, Sabaté i Coca, Torelló and Huguet-Can Feixes.

Júlia Bernet is a family winery located in the Ordal massif, with vineyards growing on rugged, limestone terrain 400 metres above sea level. Its wines and cavas come from organic farming with 100% hand harvesting. Júlia Bernet is the epitome of a farming family who, 16 years ago, decided to make their own cava, committing to quality and to the territory with rigour and honesty. And this is precisely one of the aims pursued by CORPINNAT. The brand, which produces 40,000 bottles, currently has six brut nature cavas on the market (Ingènius, Exsum Or, Exsum Rosat, 60x40, R-130 and Maria Bernet) and also makes four still wines.

This is the eighth winery to join the CORPINNAT project since the brand was officially launched on 10 April in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. Since then, many wineries have expressed interest in joining the brand, and some have already begun the process of passing the audits that will allow them in, as Huguet-Can Feixes did in recent months and now Júlia Bernet.

CORPINNAT is a collective brand registered in the European Union at the end of last year and open to all sparkling wine producers located within the territorial boundaries set by the brand. The CORPINNAT territory covers a geographical area of 46 municipalities – all those in the Alt Penedès and some in the Baix Penedès, Alt Camp, Anoia and Baix Llobregat – where, for geographical, geological, climatic and social reasons, native varieties have always been grown to make sparkling wines.

Likewise, all wineries seeking to join CORPINNAT must comply with or adapt to the brand’s rules of use, which set out, among other requirements, hand harvesting, certified organic grapes, the use of historic varieties – with particular emphasis on native ones –, the entire winemaking process on the estate, ageing of more than 18 months, a guaranteed minimum price for winegrowers with a gradual increase, and a commitment to rigour and self-discipline.
