Pardas joins CORPINNAT
Pardas, from Torrelavit, has as of today formally become a new member of the collective brand CORPINNAT after passing the mandatory audits. With this addition, CORPINNAT now brings together eleven Penedès wineries that make great sparkling wines under one of the most demanding regulations in the world in terms of rigour and quality (100% organic grapes, hand harvesting, full vinification on the estate, etc.).
The brand, founded in April 2018, is today made up of Gramona, Llopart, Nadal, Recaredo, Sabaté i Coca, Torelló, Huguet-Can Feixes, Júlia Bernet, Mas Candí, Can Descregut and, as of today, Pardas, which becomes the first member to be born CORPINNAT, since the very first bottles of sparkling wine it makes already belong to the collective brand.
Even so, Pardas's first bottles of sparkling wine are not yet on the market and will not be released until the autumn, when the winery has chosen to carry out disgorgement, with a clear commitment to long ageing. Its first sparkling wines will be released after 48 months of ageing, well beyond the 18-month minimum required by the CORPINNAT regulations. Pardas thus becomes the smallest winery in the group in terms of the number of bottles of sparkling wine it produces.
Pardas, founded in 1996, is the life project of two friends, Ramon Parera, an oenologist, and Jordi Arnan, an agronomist, both winegrowers by vocation, to make the best possible wines at the Finca Can Comas estate in Torrelavit. Ramon and Jordi consider themselves winegrowers above all else. They have been making their still wines since 2004, standing out for their great work with Xarel·lo and for the recovery and enhancement of the Sumoll variety. Their first two sparkling wines, born under the CORPINNAT brand, will soon see the light of day. Both are brut nature corpinnats from the 2017 vintage, one made from Xarel·lo and Sumoll and the other a 100% Sumoll blanc de noirs. Both sparkling wines are still resting in the cellar and will be disgorged next autumn.
Taking advantage of the first CORPINNAT Gastronomic Festival, which between 15 June and 15 August will host some seventy lunches and dinners at the wineries served by renowned restaurants and chefs, the Pardas winery will also take part and will present an exclusive preview of its sparkling wines, which can be tasted before they reach the market.
The philosophy of Pardas is defined by work rooted in respect and love for the vineyard and by the creation of intimate, hedonistic wines that reflect the landscape in which they were grown. This bond with the land and the Penedès, together with a commitment to quality, are the two reasons that led the winery to join CORPINNAT. “We are thrilled to be part of a brand that has created an ideal framework for small winegrowers like us to make the leap to producing quality sparkling wines that showcase the territory”, says Ramon Parera.
