The Subirats winery is the thirteenth to join CORPINNAT, sharing the common desire to redefine the identity of Penedès sparkling wines.

Cisteller is a new member of the CORPINNAT collective brand after passing all the mandatory audits. The collective now brings together thirteen wineries from the Penedès territory that make exceptional sparkling wines following one of the world’s most demanding sets of regulations in terms of rigour and quality (100% organic grapes, hand harvesting, full vinification on the estate and long ageing, among others).

From its creation on 10 April 2018 to the present day, CORPINNAT has gradually brought in the following wineries: Gramona, Llopart, Nadal, Recaredo, Sabaté i Coca, Torelló, Huguet-Can Feixes, Júlia Bernet, Mas Candí, Can Descregut, Pardas, Bufadors and, as of today, Cisteller.

Young and dynamic

Cisteller is a winery founded in 2022 by the oenologist couple Jessica Madigan and Sergi Canals who, after working for years in some of the world’s great wine regions, settled on the family estate of El Sot in the Muntanyes d’Ordal (Subirats).

Drawing on shared experiences and interests, they form a young, dynamic team that works side by side on every aspect of the project, from viticulture to the making of all their wines. Their approach to winemaking is one of absolute respect for the terroir, seeking to enhance the purity and character of the calcareous marine soils while minimising practices that might interfere with the texture of the resulting wines. Placing authenticity and emotion at the centre, Cisteller’s wines seek a balance between the intellectual and the hedonistic.

From the moment it was founded, Cisteller began the process of joining the CORPINNAT collective brand. With sparkling wine and the traditional method as two of the winery’s cornerstones, it joins the shared project of CORPINNAT in the desire to redefine the identity of Penedès sparkling wines.

Cisteller sets out on its path within CORPINNAT with the simultaneous launch of its first two sparkling wines: Lucidity, made with Xarel·lo and Macabeu, and Courtship, a blanc de noirs from Garnatxa Negra, which will be followed by two more sparkling wines to be released in the coming months.

CORPINNAT is a collective brand registered in the European Union at the end of 2018 that is open to all sparkling wine producers located within the territorial boundaries established by the brand. The CORPINNAT territory covers a geographical area of 46 municipalities — all those of the Alt Penedès and some of the Baix Penedès, Alt Camp, Anoia and Baix Llobregat — where, for geographical, geological, climatic and social reasons, native varieties have always been grown for the production of sparkling wines.
