Cisteller is the life project of winemaking couple Jessica Madigan and Sergi Canals, born in 2022. Their new, efficient winery, set on the family estate of El Sot (Muntanyes d’Ordal), is a space dedicated to exploring the terroir through the most emblematic variety of limestone Penedès: Xarel·lo. Their approach to winemaking shows absolute respect for the terroir, seeking to highlight the purity and character of the marine limestone soils and minimising practices that might interfere with the texture of the resulting wines. With Cisteller, Canals and Madigan join Corpinnat on its path to redefine the identity of Penedès sparkling wines, rigorously respecting the traditional method while bringing a fresh perspective after years of working in some of the world’s great wine regions. Building on shared experiences and interests, they form a lively, dynamic team, working side by side on every aspect of the project, from viticulture to the making of all their wines. Cisteller’s wines seek a balance between the intellectual and the hedonistic.
